Does Uber exist in Venice?
There is taxi service Uber in Venice?
Uber in Venice would be a dream for many tourists visiting this magnificent city, but often disappoint because of the high price of public transport and taxi services, with costs actually higher than the European average.
As I wrote in a previous article about the water taxis in Venice, the solution Uber will be impossible in this city, just a few factors that make the service impossible. If you do not know Uber, is a beautiful seaside startups born a few years, it also allows people without a proper license to transport people, as what they have taxis, to take home at the end of the month some extra cash. Uber has been much criticized in Italy with a strike by taxi drivers against this famous start-ups. In other European countries, it seems that the use of Uber has been more “digested” by taxi drivers who are now living with unloved Uber.
Uber in Venice? NEVER
The answer to the question that many of you do is simple. Uber in Venice, it is not possible given the restricted rules of the City of Venice for the licenses and taxi drivers supervision by Venetians, who in a few hours would block the canals of Venice in protest. If Uber arrived somehow in Venice, it would create an unstable situation, but this will never happen as long as:
- Prices for the purchase of a boat for the taxi service remains high (not everyone can shell out a lot of money for the first purchase of the boat)
- The strict rules for the service of transport of people and possible fines
- Strong promotion by unions Taxi of its services
